The following entities on campus are recognized for their work in supporting women faculty, staff and students. Please visit their websites for more information.

NSF Advance

Seeks to address the need for increasing diversity and inclusion, especially gender equity in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) departments by working towards equity in the numbers of male and female associate professors and full professors across STEM departments at UNCG.

ACE Women’s Network

UNCG, the historical North Carolina Women’s College, is an affiliate of the newly re-established North Carolina American Council on Education (ACE) Women’s Network. This national system of networks within each state, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia has the goal of advancing and supporting women in higher education. Each state is led by a state chair who works with institutional representatives and at least one presidential sponsor to develop programs that identify, develop, encourage, advance, link, and support (IDEALS) women in higher education careers within that state.

In line with UNC Greensboro’s commitment to the values of inclusion, our definition of “women” is an intentionally intersectional one, highlighting and including the vast spectrum of experiences that we believe define womanhood. This includes women of transgender and gender diverse experiences and identities.

Our goals are to:

  • Identify and support women in administrative leadership positions at UNCG.
  • Build a UNCG network whereby women are identified as potential leaders and mentored in their aspirations.
  • Make women at UNCG informed of opportunities they are eligible for at both the state and national levels.
  • Establish links between the state network and UNCG programs focusing on women.
  • Keep women at UNCG, the Chancellor, and the Provost informed regarding the ACE Network.
  • Assist with state programs to encourage women aspiring to administrative leadership roles

Healthy UNCG

Offers a variety of special programs for groups and departments on campus in order to promote interaction amongst students, faculty and campus community. Women-specific discussions and programs can be requested to incorporate into future events.

Counseling Center

Committed to the intersection between mental health and social justice by creating a safe, affirming, inclusive and welcoming environment for all students and the larger campus community. We understand diversity to include, but not be limited to ethnic/racial identity, nationality, sex, gender identity/expression, sexual/affectional orientation, religion/spirituality, socioeconomic status, age, body shape/size, and ability.

Alumni Engagement

A way to include the greatest possible number of alumni with UNCG on an annual basis by creating a range of programs and services so appealing that alumni will seek to remain engaged with the University and each other. During Women’s History Month (March), acknowledgement of notable Women’s College alumni allows for a wonderful resource for those looking to take a step back in time at UNCG. Some of these women helped shape the legacy of UNCG and inspired future generations of women to find their way here.

Kaplan Wellness

Committed to UNCG’s vision of making a difference in the lives of students and campus community. In order to meet the unique and diverse needs of the students and members, Kaplan has evolved into a place where you can reflect deeper, play harder, grow stronger, explore farther, accomplish more, and enjoy life.

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion Committee

Ensuring sustainable inclusive excellence within the school of Health and Human Sciences through education and training, building inclusive community, and assessment.

Center for Women’s Health and Wellness

To inspire girls and women to lead healthy, active lifestyles, and reach their full potential for mental and physical health and well-being. We aim to engage diverse, interdisciplinary research teams in order to understand the bio-psycho-social facilitators and barriers to mental and physical well-being; how they develop, intersect and change with physical activity behavior across the lifespan; and develop evidence-based strategies to improve the lives of girls and women.
