Why Give?

Your gift to the Center for Women’s Health and Wellness helps support and grow our mission to inspire girls and women to lead healthy, active lifestyles, and reach their full potential for mental and physical health and well‐being.

What Your Gift Can Do

Your gift has a direct and immediate impact. Your gifts help build the Center’s capacity to conduct high quality research on women’s health and wellness, to support programs that directly impact the lives of girls and women, and to equip and support the next generation of scholars, educators and practitioners to address critical areas of women’s health and wellness. Here are some examples of how your gifts can be used:

Existing Opportunities:

  • CWHW Center Fund – Individual donations of any size are given for discretionary spending.
  • Loretta M. Williams Undergraduate CWHW Research Fund – to support an undergraduate student to conduct research focused on women’s health and wellness.
  • Program for the Advancement of Girls and Women in Sport and Physical Activity – to support National Girls and Women in Sport and Physical Activity day, and other activities that create more fair and equitable opportunities for girls and women in sport and physical activity settings.
  • Doris S. Tanger Fund – to promote and enhance collaborative research, and disseminate research-based information related to women’s health and wellness.

Opportunities to Support New Strategic Initiatives:

  • Named Speaker’s Series – to engage and promote networking among students, faculty, practitioners and the community on research, education, clinical and professional issues related to women’s health and wellness.
  • Faculty Fellow Award – To support a portion of a faculty member’s time over one calendar year to collaborate with the Center and pursue an interdisciplinary project on women’s health and wellness.
  • Graduate Research Assistantship – to support one or more graduate student in the CWHW to engage in research and professional development opportunities and prepare for a career focused on women’s health and wellness.
  • Women’s Support Network – a grassroots initiative to enable women faculty, staff and students to build a sense of community, network and learn from one another, and to support their physical, mental and professional health and wellness.

Your gift to the Center not only supports our students and faculty – it’s an investment in the health of girls and women in our local and global communities that we desire to serve and impact through our research and activities.

Kassidy Dill
Meet Kassidy Dill, who has benefited from the generosity and opportunities afforded by the William’s Scholar. Kassidy’s professional goals are to attend medical school and become a Sports Medicine Physician.

As a William’s Scholar, Kassidy had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by participating in ongoing research focused on sport related knee injury and head trauma in female athletes. Kassidy also pursued an independent research project by examining screening practices for disordered eating in the female athlete. See her online health topic, Screening for Disordered Eating in Female Athletes (PDF), that resulted from this project.

“Working with the CWHW underneath Dr. Shultz & Dr. Duffy was an empowering experience. I not only learned about research, but the importance of strong leadership and the support and connectivity amongst women.”
