The Louise E. Lowe Scholarship was established in 1980 by faculty, staff, and friends of the School of Human Environmental Sciences and Louise E. Lowe. Eligible: Graduate or undergraduate students in the Department of Nutrition are eligible for this award.

The Jay Allen Memorial Scholarship in Nutrition
This award was established by the Allen family to help other students pursue their passion to learn about nutrition. Jay attended Elon College and received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1983. His true passion was nutrition. In January 2005, Jay pursued this dream of getting a second degree in Nutrition. His life was tragically cut short by a car accident.
Carolyn Willis Cunningham Endowed Scholarship
Carolyn Willis Cunningham graduated from Woman’s College in 1941 with a degree in Institutional Management. She was a career dietician who remembered WC as a place ‘we could concentrate on our studies, and …had the opportunity to develop (our) skills and strengths’. . . Her particular interest in establishing this award was to encourage those students who plan to continue their educations with a focus on chronic diseases like diabetes. Eligible: The award supports an undergraduate student in the Department of Nutrition.
Sue Ramsey Johnston Ferguson Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1978 in memory of Sue Ramsey Johnson Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson served as President of the Home Economics Foundation and as President of the Home Economics Alumni Association. Eligible: Undergraduate students in Nutrition are eligible for this award.
Mose Kiser Scholarship
Mose Kiser was an active supporter of the School of Human Environmental Sciences. Eligible: This award is made to undergraduates majoring in Nutrition.
Elsa A. McMullen and Naomi G. Albanese Undergraduate Scholarship
Dr. McMullen received her Ph.D. from UNCG in 1974 in Food and Nutrition. Dr. Albanese served as Dean of the School of Home Economics 1958-1982. Her work inspired Dr. McMullen to pursue an advanced degree and teaching career. This scholarship celebrates the impact these woman had on each other and the field of Human Environmental Studies. Eligible: Full time undergraduate students in nutrition are eligible for this award.
Annette L. Moore Scholarship Award
This fund was established to honor Annette L. Moore for her invaluable assistance to the School of Home Economics while she was President of the North Carolina Dietetic Association. Eligible: The scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior majoring in Nutrition.
Charles C. And Charlyene J. Moyer Scholarship in Nutrition
This award was established by the Moyers in honor of Patricia A. Sullivan, Chancellor. Charles ‘Chuck’ Moyer was District Manager for ARAMARK for 16 institutions in the Southeast. He is a loyal friend to the Department of Nutrition. Eligible: Students from the Department of Nutrition with financial need are eligible.
NC School Food Service Association Fund
This award was established as a portion of this endowed fund. Eligible: A student in the Department of Nutrition is eligible for this award.
Dr. Helen A. Shaw Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in 1999-2000 to honor Dr. Shaw’s retirement from UNCG. Dr. Shaw served as Department Chair in the Department of Nutrition from 1989-1994, when she was appointed Dean of the School of Human Environmental Sciences. Eligible: This scholarship supports an undergraduate student in the Department of Nutrition.
Dot Elliot Sink Scholarship
Dot Elliot Sink, Class of 1951, graduated with a degree in Home Economics. During her career, she served as an Assistant Home Agent in Guilford County, working with 4-H Clubs. She also served on the faculties of Gardner-Webb University and Jefferson High School in Jefferson, GA. Eligible: Undergraduate students majoring in Nutrition are eligible. Preference is given to students with financial need.
Doris T. Teeter & Perry L. Teeter Scholarship
This award was initiated as a gift in honor of Doris Teeter’s 1958 50th reunion gift. Doris graduated with a B.S. in Home Economics Education and is especially interested in nutritional biochemistry. Eligible: Undergraduates in the Department of Nutrition are eligible for this award.

Mildred B. Davis Scholarship
The scholarship was established in memory of Miss Davis, a former member of the Nutrition and Food service faculty. Eligible: Preference is given to a Nutrition student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and shows interest in a career in nutrition education. An exceptional graduate student may be considered for the award.
Jefferson Pilot Corporation Fellowship
This award was established in 1959 with gifts from Mr. Harold Holderness and Mr. Joseph Bryan, both of the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company. At the time, the School was moving toward the Ph.D. in Nutrition and sought funds to attract top quality graduate students. Eligible: This Fellowship is awarded to a graduate student involved in research in the Department of Nutrition.
Rossie Henley Lindsey Graduate Fellowship in Nutrition
Mary Ross ‘Rossie’ Henley Lindsey is a 1963 graduate of the School of Home Economics at Woman’s College. She served on the Board of the Human Environmental Sciences Foundation and the Home Economics Alumni Association. Eligible: The award was established by Cleaton M. Lindsey and Mary Ross Henley Lindsey to support a graduate student in the Department of Nutrition.
Elizabeth P. “Lib” McPherson Graduate Scholarship in Nutrition
Elizabeth ‘Lib” McPherson was a 1951 graduate of WCUNC of Human Environmental Sciences. She received a Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 1990 for her work fighting world hunger in Zaire (now the Congo). Eligible: Graduate students in the Department of Nutrition are eligible.
M. Elisabeth Mallison Moore and Karen Grace Carville Memorial Scholarship
The friends and families of these women established this award as a memorial scholarship for dietetic interns in the Department of Nutrition. Both women completed their master’s degrees at UNCG and were credentialed as Registered Dietitians.
Nutrition Dietetic Scholars Fund in Health and Human Sciences
Burgin Ross, a Nutrition faculty member, established this award to honor those professionals who served as mentors and friends throughout her professional career and during her long-standing membership in the NC Dietetics Association. Eligible: The recipient must be a student in the Department of Nutrition who plans to become a registered dietician. The recipient of this scholarship may be a post-doctoral intern, Master’s intern or a post-baccalaureate intern candidate.
Sarah and David Stedman Fund
Sarah White Stedman received her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the Woman’s College in 1942. She served as a member of the Human Environmental Sciences Foundation. Eligible: Graduate students in the Department of Nutrition with excellent academic credentials are eligible.
Clem A. Wright and Atha C. Wright Scholarship
This award was established by a bequest from the estate of Atha Wright in memory of Clem A. Wright. Eligible: Students in the M.Ed. Program in the Department of Nutrition are eligible.
Rev. and Mrs. G.D. Albanese Scholarship
This award was established in 1971 in honor of Rev. and Mrs. G. D. Albanese, parents of Dr. Naomi Albanese, former Dean of the School of Human Environmental Sciences. Eligible: The scholarship is awarded annually to second year graduate students in the Department of Nutrition.
