Both Graduate or Undergraduate Students

  • Grace Blackmore Deely, ’54 Scholarship in Community and Therapeutic Recreation
    This award was established in 2015 with a gift from Ellen Herron in honor of Grace B. Deely, a physical therapist for Ellen’s granddaughter, Sydney Herron. Sydney is a student seeking a degree in Community and Therapeutic Recreation at UNCG.
    Eligible: Graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of CTR are eligible.

Only Undergraduate Students

  • The Dorothy Davis Scholarship
    This award was initially established as the Recreation Society Scholarship Award in 1978. It was renamed to honor Dorothy Davis, a long time faculty member in the Department of Physical Education.
    Eligible: Juniors in the Department of Community and Therapeutic Recreation are eligible, based on academic excellence.
  • Marissa E. Gusto Memorial Scholarship
    The Marissa Elle Gusto Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017 by Marissa’s parents, in order to create a lasting legacy and to honor their daughter’s memory with an award for outstanding seniors in Community and Therapeutic Recreation. Eligibility includes majoring in TR, committed to the service of people with special needs, and above-average GPA.
  • The Christopher C. Harvey Memorial Scholarship
    The Christopher C. Harvey Memorial Scholarship was established in 2012 by Barbara Zwadyk in memory of her son Christopher Harvey, with help from family and friends.
    Eligible: This award will assist an undergraduate Community and Therapeutic Recreation student with an above average GPA who is studying some facet of parks and recreation management.
  • The RTH Susan Stout Undergraduate Scholarship
    Susan C. Stout graduated from the Woman’s College (now UNCG) with a B.S. in Physical Education in 1958. The Susan Stout Scholarship Fund was established in 1985 to assist students majoring in Physical Education.
    Eligible: With its growth, the fund now supports six undergraduate and five graduate students in 4 departments in the School of Health and Human Sciences.

Only Graduate Students

  • The CTR Graduate Program Development Award
    The CTR Graduate Program Development Award is available to current graduate students in the Department of Community and Therapeutic Recreation on a competitive basis. Funds can be used toward activities that support graduate education and professional development during any time throughout the academic year.   • Silvio and Gale Bedini Professional Development Fund
    This award was established by Leandra Bedini and Peter Bedini in 2013 in honor of their parents, Silvio and Gale Bedini. Funds can be used toward activities that support graduate education and professional development during any time throughout the academic year.
