Angela Frankie Entzel

Angela Entzel is the recipient of the Golden Key Honors Society Graduate Scholarship

I’m thrilled and honored to be awarded the Golden Key Graduate Scholarship. It not only helps pay for my education, it also illuminates the value of and need for holistic, interdisciplinary approaches to healing and social change in a time of great uncertainty, and demonstrates Golden Key’s commitment to visionary leaders and service.

Entzel is pursuing a Joint Masters in Social Work degree from UNC Greensboro and N.C. A&T University, exploring the intersections of environmental justice and activism, climate psychology, emotional resilience, and ecotherapy.

She is also the recipient of a graduate fellowship from N.C. A&T.

Upon completion of her degree, Entzel plans to combine her interests by providing specialized mental health support and educational offerings, advocating for communities impacted by environmental racism, and working as a garden consultant.

Entzel received a Bachelor’s of Science in conservation and resource studies at the University of California, Berkeley in 2011, with a concentration in political ecology and development studies. She joined Golden Key while there, due to a shared commitment to academic excellence, service, and leadership.

Since then, Entzel’s worked as an urban garden educator in K-12 schools, as a refugee and beginning farmer program coordinator, environmental science and environmental justice educator, and in ecological landscaping. She’s also started a small business related to edible habitats and pollinator gardens.
