Dr. Carmen Mónico, faculty of the joint MSW and PhD presented with Dr. Wayne Pitts of RTI International at the International Studies Association 63rd Annual Convention titled “A Wider Discipline For A Smaller World” and held in Nashville, Tennessee on March 28-April 2, 2022. The presentation is titled “Evidence-based proposals for improved U.S. policies and programs to address the root causes of migration from the Central America Northern Triangle,” which is part of the Panel “Latin American Foreign Policy.” The 2022 Convention brought together a community 6,500 of international scholars from approximately 85 countries around the world. This presentation and the conference paper submitted to this convention is part of the 9-month tenure that Dr. Mónico is completing as an RTI University Scholar during the 2021-2022 school year, which focuses on analyzing, interpreting and writing the results of the Guatemalan Deportee Longitudinal Repatriation Study. Dr. Mónico and Dr. Pitts also presented the study findings at the Society for Social Work and Research held in Washington, DC in January 2022.
