Community and Therapeutic Recreation
Dr. Terri Phoenix is the Director of the LGBTQ Center at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Phoenix received a Master of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from UNCG in 1999. T is also an alumnus of East Carolina University (BA) and University of Georgia (PhD) and has served on the Executive Board for the Consortium of Higher Education Resource Professionals from 2010-2012.
Dr. Phoenix has 20 years’ experience working with youth in various settings including therapeutic group homes, detention centers, psychiatric hospitals, high schools, and non-profit organizations. T has given numerous invited and peer-reviewed presentations at local, regional, and national conferences on cultural competency and inclusive practices. Dr. Phoenix lives in Durham, North Carolina with T’s wife, Kendra and daughter, Duncan.
