Joya Robertson, M. A., CCC-SLP obtained her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology in 2009 from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She is the former Clinical Supervisor of Cheshire Center, a private practice based out of Greensboro where she provides training and direct supervision for over 50 Speech-Language Pathologists.
Joya is licensed to practice in NC with her Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech and Hearing Association and has provided speech-language services in homes, Head Start centers, daycares and elementary schools. Her clinical specialties are in the areas of articulation, phonological disorders and language disorders in the birth through 5 population.
Joya’s career interest is in the area of clinical supervision. She is passionate about helping university students and clinical fellows achieve their goals and develop as clinicians. Joya is an active member in the North Carolina Speech Hearing and Language Association and the North Carolina Association of Supervision of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
Her accomplishments include public speaking to her staff, local universities and rising graduate students on a variety of career topics. She successfully led her staff through the COVID-19 pandemic by training and writing procedures for telepractice to ensure that patient care was continued when in person therapy was not an option. Since the time she was nominated for the Pacesetter Alumni Award, Joya has begun a new position at UNCG as a clinical educator/AP Assistant Professor in the CSD department!
Her dedication for support, mentoring and interpersonal relationships define her supervisory style.
